We’ve proposed a bench for a University campus. The idea of this bench is to place them across the campus in shaded areas as well as in the open for students and others to enjoy the outdoors and also take a pause when moving from one place to another.

The design of the bench is formed from a single mild steel sheet. Quite simply; the seat height, seat depth and the width determine the form. The angular surface becomes a slight gesture of design.

We have these in versions. There is the solid version, the perforated version and the one with wood slats. Each version suggests where it can be placed; for instance the wood version can be placed where it gets warm. Hence the contact of seating is on the wood slats, the perforated version allows for breeze to flow through and best placed in a shade whereas the solid version can be used in interior spaces.

Each version is anchored to the ground. The design scores on its visual simplicity and also a lightness in appearance due to the thinness of the sheet metal.
